Goal vs dream

Image
I came across a statement saying that the difference between a goal and a dream is a plan......so, it left me contemplating for a while that I've been dreaming a lot throughout my life. I realize that I want to achieve a lot of things without taking the trouble to plan it out meticulously ......but instead just hoping and wishing that it would be materialized.... So,  I guess I will start planning now... No more daydreaming....

A cry for help!

Over the years of my teaching, I meet various kinds of students who seem to to have their own minds and needs. These students, most of them are from generation Y who are known to be highly creative, imaginative and not to mention IT savvy. They love to speak their minds, have their own circle of friends, love to ask all sort of questions, love entertainment (esp. music), more open-minded (as compared to students during our days) and most importantly more competitive..... hey, stop just there! I'm not going into the detail of generation Y.... Instead, I'm going to talk about my dear students....  and this post is dedicated to all of you my students..... I know that you guys are under a lot of pressures of late. What more with your Exam after Exam....  the pressures form the parents, the teachers, the school, the society and the peers ..... And now when your SPM is dangerously near, you are supposed to be thinking of your studies and books and homework, not other things....BU

Another birthday...

Image
Today is my second son's birthday......the second birthday of this month, normally we celebrated his birthday together with Mimi but this year we celebrate them separately, less than one week apart cause he is away at college. The good thing is that we've got to eat two cakes for weeks in the row and this  time is every body's favourite, blueberry cheesecake...

BBQ

Image
It was the third time we were invited to the BBQ at my sister in-law's place in Kota Kemuning. Previously, my  hubby would come up with lots of excuses for not going. Last Saturday, however, he had no choice but to attend it since his eldest brother came all the way from JB to meet his two sons who work in KL. My sis in-law's house has always been a meeting place for the family from my hubby's side. So, she called my hubby and her other brother in Shah Alam to meet at her place. Her newly-bought house is suitable for barbecuing for it has a big compound along with a water feature surrounded by tropical plants, which makes it cool and relaxing (to add to the mood...) She is a SAHM and very lucky indeed to have a husband who can cook like a chef and loves to experiment with food and her children love to help out at the kitchen, so her task of preparing the BBQ became easier as she had a lot of helps. Her husband prepared almost everything from the meats to potatoes to the

Thanks Betty

Thanks to this ancient cookbook which I bought more than twenty years ago when I was studying at the States, my children learn to cook their favourite dishes. Starting from cinnamon rolls, pizza, scones, cakes and the latest peach pies. The pie is one of my favourites and I have yet to taste their apple pie...... And one more, chocolate chips cookies.... I used to bake all these dishes when they were younger but now I don't feel like baking anymore....luckily I have wonderful children who love to cook and to try something new. They even plan to bake cookies for the coming Hari Raya to try out the new oven bought by dad for mother's day (what an irony!) just wait and see...

National Service

Image
(credit) NOOO, it doesn't...... It is so frustrating cause I was hoping that my daughter, Nani would be selected to join National Service this year. However, she was not on the list and she is very grateful for that. But it is very disappointing to me. All this while, I was hoping that she would be enlisted to join the service and to experience the life away from family for once, to be independent and to join all those challenging physical activities.  Credits Well, I guess it's no luck for her this time...may be her other siblings will be chosen in the future... who knows, just keep on hoping.....

Awards of Excellence

Image
In the past few weeks, I've been busy with the sports day and events relating to sports. Right after the sports, we were preoccupied with the Rewards of Excellence Day. Although it had been planned in the beginning of school term, there were lots last minutes changes that make it very exhausting..... I was supposed to be in charge of the  reception initially, however, it  turned to be the stage manager to cover for the person in charge who was in confinement. When the Day was nearing my partner who was supposed to be helping me as the floor manager had to go for a course, then i was left alone to be in charge of both (stage and floor) and without realising I was the event manager who was in charge of the whole event for the day after my boss asked me to prepare the tentative programme for the whole event.... Luckily, there were helps when I needed them the most, thanks to Pn. Hasnah and Ustazah Norehan for helping me out. Also, I would like to thank the stage and technical c

Book of record

Image
2nd of July 2011, some 4.13 million students from 9,980 primary and secondary schools nationwide joined a simultaneous run and set a record for having the largest participation of school students in a run. The run, held in conjunction with the launch of the "One Student, One Sport" policy, was flagged off by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the Dataran Perbandaran Taiping. It is a new in Malaysia Book of Records as the most participants in one event.  The run was held as early as 7.45 in the morning and was joined by the teachers and parents. As for my school, there were only few parents showed up and about 10 or so teachers joined the run. I was among the teachers who joined the run and I got number 4 for teacher's category. However, I didn't get the prize because the prizes were only for the first until third place for that category. It was only 1.5 km run and I was having fun...... so the prize doesn't really matter. And the good thing is
