Books hunting...

It's that time of the year again... Big Bad Wolf  sales is back and of course I couldn't resist the temptation to go. Hence, on the second of its opening we went quite early in the morning but the crowd had already swarming the place... The first stop was at the fiction section and I could spend all day at that section alone if my son did not whine to go back because he was tired of standing and walking around... there are loads of books that I wanted to buy and read but I had limited myself  to buy only two novels because I need to read two more books to complete my reading challenge for this year (but I bought four in the end, haha...). My daughter was nowhere to be seen since she had her own types of books to search...poor that boy he doesn't have anything to buy since he haven't read a single book I bought him last year...so he was my bodyguard for the day... The last stop would be the cooking section, again there were loads to choose ...

Forgiveness

Image
I have just finished reading this book.  It's been a while but I managed to finish it somehow and I learnt three unassuming little words from this novel, "I forgive you". They mean so much to me because at one time I was a a crossroads whether to forgive a certain someone...Now that it was all finally over, I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders and was be able to move on ... By uttering those three little words was actually the beginning of a new life, life goes on... " To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you"                                                                                                                      Lewis...

So many books so little time

Image
These are some of  the books that I managed to grab in the Big Bad Wolf  sales last year. On the second visit, I finally got hold of the books that I've been looking for... But...I'm aching inside every time I saw these books on the shelf...sitting there waiting to be read...coz I still haven't  got round to reading any of them ...  Haish...so many books so little time...

Big Bad Wolf

Image
So, yesterday the girls finally succeeded talking dad into going to the the world's biggest book sale @ Big Bad Wolf books sale ... heard a lot about this craziest book sale in Malaysia but it was the first time for us to go there and we were super excited about it... The entrance... it was not so crowded when we first arrived at around 10.00 in the morning...we took our sweet time to search for the books of our taste but I was so disappointed with the selection of fiction...the books are either too old or uninteresting, at least to my preference... Sha and Mimi with one of 2 boxes of the day's catch...another one was with dad... Nani was searching for fashion design books, but to no avail...there were lots of books on cooking but limited choice for fashion design...  double disappointment   These are some of the books that we managed to haul. We bought the total of 15 books @ RM 137. I think  it is a very good de...

The Girl who...

I know its a bit too late for me to be reading this trilogy but what the heck,  better late than never, so the saying goes....When I first laid my eyes on these books last year, I've never thought that I would read them as obviously they are not my types, I don't really go for crime stories (even though, I read Sidney Sheldon's) but last month when my friend told me that she was reading the third book of this trilogy, it occurred to me that these books must be great...so, I bought the first two when I had the chance and they were on discount...     By the end of October I've finished reading both of the great books, it took me about three weeks to finish those books, juggling my times reading and other routine. I must say the story is different from what I've normally read and it doesn't finish even after I've the second one...thus, I needed to get the third book. The third book is the conclusion to all of the mysteries. Even so, f...

Thanks Betty

Thanks to this ancient cookbook which I bought more than twenty years ago when I was studying at the States, my children learn to cook their favourite dishes. Starting from cinnamon rolls, pizza, scones, cakes and the latest peach pies. The pie is one of my favourites and I have yet to taste their apple pie...... And one more, chocolate chips cookies.... I used to bake all these dishes when they were younger but now I don't feel like baking anymore....luckily I have wonderful children who love to cook and to try something new. They even plan to bake cookies for the coming Hari Raya to try out the new oven bought by dad for mother's day (what an irony!) just wait and see...

Book Fair

It's that time of the year again...KL Book Fair 2011, it's the time that is much awaited by my daughter, Nani. This is the time when she can bargain with her dad to buy her as many novels as she could. This is the time when the dad gives in to the wishes of the daughter. It's not so much excitement for her sister, Mimi for she is not an avid novel reader like her big sister. Nonetheless, the idea of going and feasting her eyes with zillions of books makes her as eager as her sister wanting to go to the fair...It has been a yearly event for our family since the past three years. Last Saturday, we went to the fair after school and a wedding - hubby said since we were not so far away from PWTC, so we better stop by to have a look. I was dead tired and not keen of going but the children were more than happy to do so. As expected, the place was as crowded as ever but we managed to hustle through amongst the crowd to grab some books (novels and some reference books...

Counting the day.....

Right at this moment, I'm counting the day for the mid-term break to start....Even though it's only for one week, I'm desperately yearning for a break right now.........this is because I've been working so hard for the past few weeks that I think I deserve a nice loooong break, but one week will do for the time being..... It's just to spare me sometime to come back to my senses and realign my mood to be ready for the next line up activities waiting to be realized in the second term....yikes! Let's see right after the break, there will be: SPM result  general PTA's meeting a visit from a group of Australian students  meeting and more meeting debate competition And the list goes on.....I think I gonna be crazy if I face all these without having enough energy/spirit to do so, given the stressful and long week I'm having now.....had to stay back all week for a course, meeting and some more meeting...gosh! now I realise...

Happy little moment

Image
Right at this moment I'm savouring myself reading this hilarious book..... I know it is not a new released but it's the first book by Sophie Kinsella that I'm reading after loads of recommendations and suggestions from a friend (she actually recommended the shopaholic series, but I'm not sure which one to get so I grabbed this one instead)....been enjoying it so far and seize every  opportunity  to read it even though with the tight routine... These few weeks, I have a sudden urge to read something light/endearing to balance up with my busy schedule, so on Sunday I managed to get hold on these two books..... Norwegian Wood is recommended by my other friend.....it's my happy little moment...........

Happy...

I'm counting my blessing despite all the things that happened to me in past few days.....I'm thankful for what I have and I'm feeling happy....lalala... Desperately wishing that I could read a good novel right now...

Reflections...

Image
Finally, 2010 has come to an end........there are many of  our dreams and hopes that came through while the others have yet to be realized....that's life but we must move on with new dreams and hopes...I wonder if we can simply materialize our dreams just by writing it out and tacking it on the wall like thousands of people are doing at Time Square, New York...... People are making wishes and tacking them up hoping that it will come true.... (yahoo photo) How I wish life is as simple as that. Anyway, I 'm not going to talk about my wishes and new year resolutions now because I just want to set my dreams free and hope that 2011 will be better than what I had in 2010....speaking of which, I just want to reflect some of the happenings and updates in 2010 (based on my previuos posts)..... let see, first I set a goal to read five novels in one month and I finished all of it by 29th December, so the total for last year's read was 7( not bad for my standard).....

Countdown......

Oh my gosh....it's Christmas already (Merry Christmas to those who are celebrating and a happy new year) .....that means there are only about one week left before the school starts and my days are going to be busy again. Since I am not celebrating, today we are going to do some last minute shopping for my children's school  uniforms and supplies....and some other stuff for me as well.... Next week is already pack with two meetings and a short visit to Kluang. So, it seems that I need to get all prepared by tomorrow...... Eventhough today is cloudy ( it is going to be a wet Christmas?), I'm thankful that yesterday it was bright and sunny (eventhough it was raining at 5pm) so all my laundry were all dried even my comforter and curtains..so I put up a new set of curtain yesterday (Ok, it is an old one which reminds me to add curtain in my wish list for next year). New clean set of curtain to start a new year with new perspective and outlook....( I...

Lazy Sunday.....

It's a kind of Sunday that I've been craving for so long....... The kind of Sunday that I woke up lazily in the morning and not rushing into doing anything.... Last night we just got back from Kedah after taking my mum back home (my sister who was supposed to fetch her home could not take a leave, so my hubby and I decided to take her back on Friday) So, today we resumed our normal activities lazily at home. Early in the morning my hubby went to check his first ever corn and lady's finger plants. He planted them when my mother was around a few days ago and he was so proud to see them sprouting healthily... thanks to mum, finally my hubby shows his love for gardening, at least after this I have somebody to help me with my garden and take care of my plants.... Well, after lunch my hubby takes a nap and I continue with my reading...half way through with 'The wedding Planner' and am looking forward for another journey to Kuantan tomorrow.........

One big happy family...

Image
The last 2 days had been very busy for me....my mum and my siblings came over.... it was such a havoc having almost everybody  from my BIG family around.... Luckily, I had renovated my house though not entirely complete.... or else there wouldn't be enough room for everybody....  It was practically all about cooking and eating and chatting...... I don't remember cooking so many times in my life for two days....  Anyway, it was all worth it...it seems that everybody was happy...... Almost everybody in the pic were coming.... Now, all my siblings had gone back and my mum is staying for a few weeks to spend time with my children. Hope I will be able to give her the best time ever... so there will be some changes in my plan... I will not be able to spend most of my time reading as planned cause it won't be appropriate for me to so while she is around.... I need to think of activities which will include her.... So, I think I need to concentrate on gardening since sh...
