Books hunting...

It's that time of the year again...Big Bad Wolf sales is back and of course I couldn't resist the temptation to go. Hence, on the second of its opening we went quite early in the morning but the crowd had already swarming the place...

The first stop was at the fiction section and I could spend all day at that section alone if my son did not whine to go back because he was tired of standing and walking around... there are loads of books that I wanted to buy and read but I had limited myself  to buy only two novels because I need to read two more books to complete my reading challenge for this year (but I bought four in the end, haha...).

My daughter was nowhere to be seen since she had her own types of books to search...poor that boy he doesn't have anything to buy since he haven't read a single book I bought him last year...so he was my bodyguard for the day...

The last stop would be the cooking section, again there were loads to choose from but I guess we bought most of it last year, so we managed to haul only two cookbooks...

These are among the books that we bought, the rest are puzzles and sudoku...

Squats, anyone?

I found this valuable info about squats here, so I guess I would share it here for my own reference as I've been looking for a simple exercise regime that now since there is no more aerobics during the holidays... let's do some squats...
The Top 8 Benefits of Squats
1.    Builds Muscle in Your Entire Body
Squats obviously help to build your leg muscles (including your quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves), but they also create an anabolic environment, which promotes body-wide muscle building.
In fact, when done properly, squats are so intense that they trigger the release of testosterone and human growth hormone in your body, which are vital for muscle growth and will also help to improve muscle mass when you train other areas of your body aside from your legs.
So squats can actually help you improve both your upper and lower body strength.
2.    Functional Exercise Makes Real-Life Activities Easier
Functional exercises are those that help your body to perform real-life activities, as opposed to simply being able to operate pieces of gym equipment. Squats are one of the best functional exercises out there, as humans have been squatting since the hunter-gatherer days. When you perform squats, you build muscle and help your muscles work more efficiently, as well as promote mobility and balance. All of these benefits translate into your body moving more efficiently in the real world too.
3.    Burn More Fat
One of the most time-efficient ways to burn more calories is actually to gain more muscle! For every pound of additional muscle you gain, your body will burn an additional 50-70 calories per day. So, if you gain 10 pounds of muscle, you will automatically burn 500-700 more calories per day than you did before.
4.    Maintain Mobility and Balance
Strong legs are crucial for staying mobile as you get older, and squats are phenomenal for increasing leg strength. They also work out your core, stabilizing muscles, which will help you to maintain balance, while also improving the communication between your brain and your muscle groups, which helps prevent falls – which is incidentally the #1 way to prevent bone fractures versus consuming mega-dose calcium supplements and bone drugs.
5.    Prevent Injuries
Most athletic injuries involve weak stabilizer muscles, ligaments and connective tissues, which squats help strengthen. They also help prevent injury by improving your flexibility (squats improve the range of motion in your ankles and hips) and balance, as noted above.
6.    Boost Your Sports Performance -- Jump Higher and Run Faster
Whether you're a weekend warrior or a mom who chases after a toddler, you'll be interested to know that studies have linked squatting strength with athletic ability.i Specifically, squatting helped athletes run faster and jump higher, which is why this exercise is part of virtually every professional athlete's training program.
7.    Tone Your Backside, Abs and Entire Body
Few exercises work as many muscles as the squat, so it's an excellent multi-purpose activity useful for toning and tightening your behind, abs, and, of course, your legs. Furthermore, squats build your muscles, and these muscles participate in the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity, helping to protect you against obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
8.    Help with Waste Removal
Squats improve the pumping of body fluids, aiding in removal of waste and delivery of nutrition to all tissues, including organs and glands. They're also useful for improved movement of feces through your colon and more regular bowel movements.

To do list...

It's the first week of the year end school holidays. I have about six weeks to enjoy doing the things that I've always wanted to do earlier...but I guess I've been procrastinating and starting pretty slow, but it's okay at least I have started reading yesterday and almost finishing (some books are pretty slow to finish...)

Perhaps, I'm a bit ambitious, but I have a  list of things to do/accomplish within this period ... it's okay to dream, I guess...

1. Read the books that I bought during the Big Bad Wolf Sales last year to complete my reading challenge, three more books to go.

2. Try new recipes, this might be interesting...
3. Work on my garden, replanting and reorganizing, plant new herbs perhaps...

4. Reorganizing my closets and bookshelves
5. Do some house chores

6. Complete my module for new subject next year...( marketing, eh? )
7. Travel to places I've never been...
8. Read more Quran...
9. Buy some new clothes for next year
10. Get a new hair cut, haha...

Hope to get at least half of it done...

Forgiveness

I have just finished reading this book.

It's been a while but I managed to finish it somehow and I learnt three unassuming little words from this novel, "I forgive you". They mean so much to me because at one time I was a a crossroads whether to forgive a certain someone...Now that it was all finally over, I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders and was be able to move on ...

By uttering those three little words was actually the beginning of a new life, life goes on...

"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you"

who you are, and not who people think you are"

Back To School

A new year has begun and a new school year is just beginning -
TGIF, the first week has ended... how time flies...

During the final week of school holidays, been busy visiting my family at my hometown (finally, on the final week of the holidays hubby could take a leave). On the way back to Kedah, I received a phone call from school informing that I had a meeting to attend on 31st of Dec, so we had to cut short the balik kampung, only spent two days there..nonetheless, it was a fruitful one...

Prior to that I was on duty from 17th to 21st Dec and had to attend two days meetings on 26& 27th Dec. Now, it's back to my old routine getting busy with school life...

Hope this year will be a blessed and wonderful one for all of us...
