Bukit Tinggi Resort

Image
On Saturday, we took the girls to Bukit Tinggi Resort in Pahang. Sha had planned to go there since last year as a family-day-out but it was never materialized until now. Anyway, it is a beautiful place for sight seeing perfect for family outing and even honeymooners... I spotted  a few young couples there... It was raining slightly when we arrived but that didn't stop us from exploring the place. And for the girls to enjoy the moment... the fact that it was drizzling intermittently had given the nice cool setting to the place...it was like autumn... Mimi and Nani with the white swan, the last time we went when they were much younger, they were afraid to get near the swan... The map of attractions at the resort At the Japanese village... beautiful flower at the botanical garden... Hiking down the Japanese village in the rain... The final stop was the Animal Farm, you need to pay RM 3.00 each to enter the farm which in my opin

Big Bad Wolf

Image
So, yesterday the girls finally succeeded talking dad into going to the the world's biggest book sale @ Big Bad Wolf books sale ... heard a lot about this craziest book sale in Malaysia but it was the first time for us to go there and we were super excited about it... The entrance... it was not so crowded when we first arrived at around 10.00 in the morning...we took our sweet time to search for the books of our taste but I was so disappointed with the selection of fiction...the books are either too old or uninteresting, at least to my preference... Sha and Mimi with one of 2 boxes of the day's catch...another one was with dad... Nani was searching for fashion design books, but to no avail...there were lots of books on cooking but limited choice for fashion design...  double disappointment   These are some of the books that we managed to haul. We bought the total of 15 books @ RM 137. I think  it is a very good deal indeed and everybody se

Herbs Garden

Image
After going to MAHA twice, we started our own herb garden at the courtyard.... Rosemary and oregano Green onion beautiful 'misai kucing' and 'salam' This mint is from Floria...  still surviving... There are more herbs that we planned to plant but lately it has been raining almost every day. I'm fear for my herbs to be over-watered and their roots will rot.  Need to build a shade before I get too ambitious and to protect them before it is too late...

MAHA 2012

Image
It was the first time we went for  MAHA 2012 . We went there with one thing in mind, that is to buy a lot of herbs since hubby was so excited to start our own herbs garden in our courtyard... The place is so big thus we need to board the tram to get to exhibition places(the showground). We arrived early at around 10 o'clock and just waited for a few minutes for the tram to arrive...  The showground....we need to download the map so that we won't lose our way around... There are a lot of animals on display and also for auction at the livestock showground...these deer attracted the kids' attention... At the paddy showground... I just love walking under this pergola with with veggies hanging above our heads... Arrays of orchids at the Floriculture... Vegetables on display... It was a hot and sunny day, the girls were just too tired to explore more places And finally at noon, before going back we stopped at the mak

Malacca River Cruise

Image
My children had always wanted to go on a river cruise every time we go to Malacca but it was finally materialized two weeks ago. It was a treat for Shasha's convo, even though it was not the first time for her. Normally, hubby would say we don't have time to waste on a cruise like that but that day was an exception.  We arrived quite early on Sunday morning coz we needed to check out from the home-stay by noon. It was not so many people at the time we arrived the jetty... we waited for 15 minutes for other tourists to join us on the boat... I was glad to be spending 45 minutes on the cruise as it was quite interesting and informative. The kids were enjoying the ride and snapping lots of pictures along the way. The row of shops along the river were painted with colourful and interesting graffiti... Each painting has its own story and history behind it. There was also a recorded commentaries on the cruise.  It explained each of the

Enclave...

Image
I have always wanted my house to have a big gate and enclave with the brick fences so that I could feel safe and secure at the comfort of my own home...hubby has been putting off the project coz we couldn't find the suitable contractor or design...I've always been dreaming to have something like this, the colour scheme is just my taste... source Then, when we were visiting my sis in-law during the last Eid, we completely fell head over heel with her new brick fence. It is so natural, so comforting and it feels like we were in the garden of Eden, plus the swing...there and then, hubby decided to contact the contractor who had worked wonder on the fence,  which was very rare for him to act as such...he would normally weigh the pros and the cons before deciding on something this big...well...for me it's a big project... Thus, a few weeks later, after completing another project  the contractor came all the way from Klang to work on our fence..

8 Ways to Make a Lasting Impression...

Sometimes we fail to make a good impression when we need to. I found this handy tips in Good Housekeeping online which would help to make a lasting impression, especially when you are meeting somebody for the first time... 1. Be pleasant and full of praise. 2. Have a balanced conversation.  3. Dress to make the right impression.  4. Convey interest. 5. Get real in your introduction.  6. Contribute to the conversation. 7. Make eye contact. 8. Know when the conversation is over.

Red Velvet Cake

Image
This is our first try making this cake. My daughter has been wanting to bake this cake on her birthday but she held on until last Eidul Adha...since we didn't go back to our kampung, we needed to cook something festive, just to get the feel... Anyway, Red Velvet Cake was not a bad idea at all... the colour is so rich and the taste is heavenly... I love the rich velvety colour right from the start... We decided to make cupcakes instead of the ordinary full-sized one and they are awesome... I just love the colour... And it will definitely be my new favourite cake...
