Bits And Pieces

After going to MAHA twice, we started our own herb garden at the courtyard.... Rosemary and oregano Green onion beautiful 'misai kucing' and 'salam' This mint is from Floria...  still surviving... There are more herbs that we planned to plant but lately it has been raining almost every day. I'm fear for my herbs to be over-watered and their roots will rot.  Need to build a shade before I get too ambitious and to protect them before it is too late...

So Floria 2012 had ended about a week ago and I only manage to post about it today. My family and went there on Saturday and it was my first time ever going to Floria Putrajaya. It was a beautiful and glorious morning, we arrived there at about 9.15 and the place was already crowded. I just love the bright blue sky in the background... It seemed that we had entered it the wrong way, so we went to  indoor exhibition first... i really admire the details in this award winning display, it looks so real... and love this courtyard arrangement...less is more, now i get it... another fascination... Then, I feel  it was like in heaven when we went  outdoor for more garden exhibition. Surrounded by abundant of  flowers from various species, and the theme for this year is 'Bougainvillea - Enduring Beauty', how true it is... We snapped a lot of photos of course, coz everything was just breathtaking... and this is my fa...

It has been ages since I last updated anything about my garden... well, now I guess it was abandoned by my hubby since he has been busy with other things... huh, so much for going green lifestyle... Anyway, there are a few things that I would like to share about our so-called garden... First, my pumpkin patch finally has produced some yield, this is the the first one and had been cooked at the middle of ramadhan, now I'm about to harvest the second one... so that I can cook  pengat afterwards...   Secondly,  my screwpine (pandan) has showing some green and I've been using it a few times in my cooking... And, the most exciting of all is when our mango tree is finally showing some flowers for the first time after years of waiting... the thought of eating fresh mangoes right from the tree is sooo thrilling...can't wait... 



  Today I'm so happy to see my hydrangea flowers changed colour to light purple.....it has been flowering since last week and I'm so excited about it. Initially, I thought the colour would be just the same like the last time it was flowering that is light blue....never thought that it would change in just one day... The pic above was taken yesterday, check out the slight difference of colour, it is not as rich as today's...  Anyway, I'm so grateful and realise that I'm not that hopeless with flowering plants, after all....am thinking of planting more after this.....

I 've been trying to live healthily since early this year as more and more the people I know seem to suffer from chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart attack and what not..... Last month, my hubby went for a check up and the doctor said that his cholesteral level is increasing from 5.3 to 5.5 since his previous check up two years ago (it should be below 5.2).....he had been warned by the doctor to lower it down or else he will put him under medication after the next check up (after three months).  It had really opened his eyes on healthy diet, which right after the check up he tries to control his eating habits and watches out for what he is eating. Inevitably, it also made me to be more health conscious and follow suit (mine was 4.7 in 2009 and didn't bother to check it up again after that). Anyway, I'm hoping that at least mine is maintained at that level..... so, now hubby and I are trying to live healthily by living gr...

I'm grateful for what I've seen in my garden today, the plants seem to be pretty much alive and started flowering, thanks to hubby for his love and care......      The first sight that caught my eyes when I opened my back doorthis morning was this beautiful yellow okra's (lady's finger) flower. Although there is only one flower is blooming at the moment, I could see there are many others following shortly..  it is my first experince of growing this plant and I'm all over-excited about it...can't wait to see the fruits...  The sweet corns are making their way, growing taller and taller evrytime I see them... Here it comes....my baby tomato, my first ever... Introducing..... newly planted plants...kangkung making its way at my garden.. Finally, at my front garden, my once almost dying kemboja has started to bloom....well, at least something is blooming there....and still hoping my hydrangea will start flowe...

Finally, 2010 has come to an end........there are many of  our dreams and hopes that came through while the others have yet to be realized....that's life but we must move on with new dreams and hopes...I wonder if we can simply materialize our dreams just by writing it out and tacking it on the wall like thousands of people are doing at Time Square, New York...... People are making wishes and tacking them up hoping that it will come true.... (yahoo photo) How I wish life is as simple as that. Anyway, I 'm not going to talk about my wishes and new year resolutions now because I just want to set my dreams free and hope that 2011 will be better than what I had in 2010....speaking of which, I just want to reflect some of the happenings and updates in 2010 (based on my previuos posts)..... let see, first I set a goal to read five novels in one month and I finished all of it by 29th December, so the total for last year's read was 7( not bad for my standard).....

I have been waiting for weeks for my hydrangea to change colour to blue...but when it did, it changed to a very pale blue....then after two days it just withered away.....maybe I'm really hopeless with flowering plants...I don't know but I'm going give it a chance by the way.....the leaves are going strong  but the flowers...uhuh.... I'm determined to keep this one and to nurture it till it blooms again.... (hopefully) My hydrangea about two weeks ago after I transfered it to the pot... The colour is very pale blue..... On the other hand, at the backyard my hubby's corn and lady's finger plants are looking good....my mum would be proud of him if she is still here.... Two- week old corn and lady's finger plants Last but not least, my tomatoes........ Hope for the best for all of the plants because in the next two weeks, I'm going to be busy again....

It's a kind of Sunday that I've been craving for so long....... The kind of Sunday that I woke up lazily in the morning and not rushing into doing anything.... Last night we just got back from Kedah after taking my mum back home (my sister who was supposed to fetch her home could not take a leave, so my hubby and I decided to take her back on Friday) So, today we resumed our normal activities lazily at home. Early in the morning my hubby went to check his first ever corn and lady's finger plants. He planted them when my mother was around a few days ago and he was so proud to see them sprouting healthily... thanks to mum, finally my hubby shows his love for gardening, at least after this I have somebody to help me with my garden and take care of my plants.... Well, after lunch my hubby takes a nap and I continue with my reading...half way through with 'The wedding Planner' and am looking forward for another journey to Kuantan tomorrow.........

Even though the sky was not so bright yesterday, my hubby and I managed to take my mum to a nursery  to look for some plants and soil to make her busy (initially, we wanted to take her to MAHA 2010 but after reading a lot of negative comments about it, we changed our minds and took her to a local nursery instead)  She seemed to be contented with it and suggested a few plants. I particularly don't like flowering plants since my bad record with orchids and roses, however, yesterday I was fascinated with this plant and decided to buy it with my mum's approval of course. And if this plant survives and continues flowering, I promise my daughters to buy this yellow daisy next time for them... Upon reaching home and although it was slightly raining my mum started filling in the pots with soil and started to plant. She was soon joined by her over-excited grandchildren......
